These Aryans defeated the local tribes and permanently settled here. The period also witnesses the establishment of small Janapadas or small republics in Himachal Pradesh. To remain independent for long time they maintain good relations with the Mauryans. But they lost their power when Guptas raised their power in the North Ganagetic plains.
